AmphibiaWeb adalah situs web nirlaba Amerika yang menyediakan informasi tentang amfibi. Program ini dijalankan oleh sekelompok universitas yang bekerja sama dengan Akademi Ilmu Pengetahuan California: Universitas Negeri San Francisco, Universitas California di Berkeley, Universitas Florida di Gainesville, dan Universitas Texas di Austin.

Tujuan AmphibiaWeb adalah untuk menyediakan satu halaman untuk setiap spesies amfibi di dunia sehingga para ilmuwan peneliti, ilmuwan khalayak, dan konservasionis dapat berkolaborasi.[1] Situs web ini menambahkan hewan ke-7000nya pada tahun 2012, yaitu seekor katak kaca dari Peru.[2][3] Pada tahun 2022, situs ini menjadi rumah bagi lebih dari 8.400 spesies yang berada di seluruh dunia.[4][5]

Awal mula

Ilmuwan David Wake mendirikan AmphibiaWeb pada tahun 2000. Wake diilhami oleh menurunnya populasi amfibi di seluruh dunia.[6][7] Ia mendirikannya di Proyek Perpustakaan Digital Universitas California di Berkeley pada tahun 2000. Wake kemudian menganggap AmphibiaWeb sebagai bagian dari warisannya.[3][8]

Penggunaan

AmphibiaWeb memberikan informasinya kepada IUCN, CalPhotos, Encyclopedia of Life dan iNaturalist,[8] dan basis data tersebut dikutip dalam publikasi ilmiah.[9][10][11][12]
