Agroekoteknologi

Agroteknologi adalah suatu pembelajaran yang mencakup 3 bagian yaitu ilmu tanah, hama dan penyakit, budidaya (agronomi) dan dapat dijelaskan bahwa agronomi ialah ilmu yang mempelajari tentang sains dan teknologi suatu tanaman yang melibatkan penelitian dan pengembangan.[1]

Agro berasal dari agronomi yaitu ilmu yang mempelajari gejala (fenomena) dalam hubungannya dengan pertanian atau teori serta praktek dalam pengelolaan tanah serta produksi tanaman, sedangkan teknologi berkaitan erat dengan sains serta perekayasaan. Menurut Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, kata agroteknologi diartikan sebagai penerapan ilmu dan teknologi di bidang biologi pada sistem pertanian intensif.[2]

Perlu dipahami bahwa teknologi yang dimaksud di sini itu bukan teknologi berupa mesin-mesin pengolahan hasil pertanian, atau hubungannya dengan teknik pertanian, jadi dalam jurusan agroteknologi kita tidak akan mempelajari bagaimana cara merakit mesin untuk keperluan pertanian.

Pada dasarnya, di Agroteknologi kita akan mempelajari mengenai bagaimana cara mengelola suatu komoditas dari berbentuk bibit sampai berbentuk hasil dan selanjutnya produk. Kita akan mempelajari tentang tanaman dan tumbuhan, pangan ataupun hortikultura, serta bagaimana cara proses menanam yang baik, proses panen, proses pengolahan, hingga proses produksi.

Studi tentang Agroteknologi akan sangat berkaitan dengan kombinasi ilmu pertanian dan teknologi. Di tingkat universitas, beberapa mata kuliah yang akan dipelajari antara lain adalah:
