Sarcopera, biljni rod iz porodice Marcgraviaceae. Sastoji se od 8 vrsta iz Srednje i tropske Južne Amerike. Opisan je 1997. godine u Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 119: 328.[1]
Opis
Sarcopera je rod biljaka koji obuhvaća penjačice (lijane) ili grmolike biljke, ponekad i mala stabla. Mogu rasti na tlu ili kao poluepifiti (djelomično na drugim biljkama). Imaju spiralno raspoređene listove s karakterističnim malim žlijezdama. Cvjetovi su brojni, skupljeni u dugačke klasaste cvatove, često s upečatljivim crvenim pricvjetnim listovima koji luče nektar. Plod je okruglast, sličan bobici, a sadrži male, sjajne sjemenke u obojenoj, mesnatoj unutrašnjosti. Prirodno rastu u tropskim područjima od Nikaragve do sjeverne Bolivije i u visoravnima Gvajane.[2]
