Mons Esam je mala, izolirana planina u sjevernom dijelu Mora tišine (Mare Tranquillitatis) . Nalazi se jugoistočno od kratera Vitruvius i zapadno-sjeverozapadno od Lyella. Sjeveroistočno od ovog grebena nalazi se zaljev Sinus Amoris.
Selenografska koordinata ovog objekta je 14,6° N, 35,7° E, a maksimalni promjer mu je u podnožju 8 km. Naziv ovog objekta je arapsko muško ime, i nije odabran da predstavlja određenu osobu.[2] Ovaj vrh je lunarni stožac koji je nastao tektonskim procesima, a uzdiže se otprilike 400 metara iznad okolnih ravnica.[1]
Par sićušnih kratera južno od Mons Esama dobio je imena od IAU-a. Navedeni su u donjoj tablici. Krateri se nalaze na vrhovima dviju mjesečevih kupola, koje su najvjerojatnije vulkani i nisu nastale udarima.
