Macrotorus, maleni biljni rod iz porodice boldovki. Izvorno područje rasprostranjenosti ovog roda je jugoistočni Brazil.[1]

Ime

Ime roda potječe od grčkih/latinskih elemenata macro- = velik, dug, krupan; torus = cvjetno ležište, receptakul. U značenju “veliko cvjetno ležište”, što upućuje na izraženi receptakul cvijeta.

Opis

Macrotorus Perkins je rod grmova i manjih stabala iz porodice Monimiaceae, podporodice Mollinedioideae. Rod je endem brazilske Atlantske šume. Prvotno je bio smatran monotipskim, s jedinom vrstom Macrotorus utriculatus, ali je 2020. opisana druga vrsta, Macrotorus genuflexus. Biljke su dvodomne, s odvojenim muškim i ženskim jedinkama. Od srodne Mollinedia razlikuju se osobito građom muških cvjetova, s dugim vrčastim receptakulom, vrlo sitnim tepalima i osobitom građom prašnika. [2]
