Lathrocasis , rijetka, samostalno-oprašujuća biljka s nesigurnim evolucijskim odnosima iz porodice Polemoniaceae.[1]
Opis
Lathrocasis je mali rod biljaka (ima samo jednu vrstu) koji raste na zapadu Sjedinjene Američke Države, najčešće na suhim i otvorenim staništima poput kamenitih padina i šikara.
Srodstvo (filogenija): Najbliži je rodu biljaka kao što su Allophyllum, Collomia, Gilia i Navarretia, ali ta veza nije potpuno sigurna zbog nedovoljno jakih dokaza. Rasprostranjenost: Nalazi se u područjima Great Basin i Rocky Mountains (SAD i dio Kanade). Razmnožavanje: Biljka se uglavnom samooprašuje – cvijet se otvori samo jedan dan, a prašnici dodiruju tučak u isto vrijeme, što omogućuje oplodnju bez pomoći drugih biljaka ili oprašivača.[2]
