Sažeti opis

Ipomopsis je složen i raznolik rod s oko 28 vrsta biljaka iz Sjeverne i Južne Amerike, najpoznatiji po vrstama I. aggregata i I. rubra. Posebno je zanimljiv znanstvenicima zbog proučavanja oprašivanja i brze evolucije cvjetova.

Genetska istraživanja pokazala su da rod nije potpuno jedinstven, pa su neke vrste izdvojene u drugi rod (Dayia). Ipomopsis je najbliži rodu Bryantiella i dijeli se u tri glavne skupine koje se razlikuju po obliku cvjetova i načinu oprašivanja.

Raste uglavnom u sušnim i planinskim područjima zapadne Sjeverne Amerike, dok se neke vrste šire i na istok te u Južnu Ameriku.

Zbog velike varijabilnosti, čestih hibridizacija i prilagodbi različitim staništima, ovaj rod je taksonomski vrlo složen i još uvijek nije potpuno razjašnjen.[2]
