Apodanthes, monotipski biljni rod u porodici Apodanthaceae, dio reda Cucurbitales. Jedina vrsta je A. caseariae iz Srednje i tropske Južne Amerike.
A. caseariae je endoparazit koji živi unutar stabala i grmova porodice Salicaceae ili Fabaceae i koji se pojavljuju samo kako bi cvjetali, zbog čega spadaju u najmanje poznate porodice cvjetnica.[1]
Opis
Apodanthes caseariae ima dvofazni životni ciklus: endofitsku fazu u kojoj se unutar stabljika svog primarnog domaćina Casearia sylvestris (Salicaceae) razvija kriptično tijelo nalik miceliju i egzofitsku fazu obilježenu pojavom cvjetova i plodova. Ova holoendoparazitska biljka uopće nema korijenje, stabljike ili lišće. Cvjetni pupoljci razvijaju se iznutra, izlazeći kao jarko žuti, jednospolni, potpuno formirani cvjetovi s braktejama. Plodovi su mesnati i polispermalni.[2]
