תן לעולם הגדול להסתובב (באנגלית: Let the Great World Spin) הוא ספר רומן מאת קולום מק'אן (אנ') שיצא לאור ביוני 2009. שם הספר הוא מתוך השיר "אולם לוקסלי" של המשורר האנגלי אלפרד טניסון.

עלילה

עלילת הספר מסופרת על ידי 11 אנשים, הדמויות המרכזיות בספר. העלילה לא מסופרת בצורה ליניארית, וחיי הדמויות משתלבים אף על פי שחלקם לא מודעים לכך וחלקם אף לא נפגשו מעולם. חלק מהאירועים המרכזיים בספר מסופרים מספר פעמים על ידי דמויות שונות.[1]

העלילה מתחילה ב-7 באוגוסט 1974, היום שבו הלך פיליפ פטי על חבל דק בין שני מגדלי מרכז הסחר העולמי. מהגר אירי צעיר מגיע לבקר בניו יורק את אחיו, שחי בשכונות העניות של העיר. הספר מתפתל ומספר על חייה של זונה ברובע הברונקס ועל ביתה, על אשה שאיבדה את שלושת ילדיה במלחמת וייטנאם ועל השופט שגוזר את עונשו של פיליפ פטי בגין ההליכה על החבל.

ביקורת

מבקר הניו יורק טיימס, ג'ונתן מאהלר, טען כי הספר הוא "אחד הרומנים העמוקים והמחשמלים שקראתי מזה שנים".[2]

הספר זכה ב"פרס ספר הספרות הלאומי" האמריקאי לשנת 2009 וב"פרס הספרות הבינלאומי של דבלין" לשנת 2011 ולביקורות חיוביות נוספות רבות.[3][4][5][6]
