רכבת אקספרס (באנגלית: Express train) היא רכבת שעוצרת במספר קטן של תחנות רכבת, בדרך כלל ביעדים מרכזיים, המאפשרת שירות מהיר יותר מאשר רכבות מאספות שעוצרות ברוב או בכל התחנות לאורך כל המסלול שלהן.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4] לעיתים קרובות, מכנים את רכבות האקספרס כ־"רכבות מהירות", כלומר הם מהירים יותר מרכבות אחרות שנעות באותו מסלול.^[5] אף על פי שרוב שירותי הרכבות המהירות הן רכבות אקספרס, לא כל הרכבות המהירות "מהירות" ביחס לרכבות אחרות. בתחילת המאה ה־19, רכבות שהגיעו מוקדם מהרגיל בבריטניה סווגו כרכבות מהירות כל עוד הייתה להן "מהירות נסיעה" של לפחות 40 מייל לשעה (64 קמ"ש).^[6]^[7] בדרך כלל, תעריפי רכבות האקספרס גבוהים יותר מאשר קווי רכבת אחרים (שאינם רכבות אקספרס), ונושאי כרטיסי מעבר עשויים להידרש לשלם תשלום נוסף, וביניהם גם בתשלום לישיבה במחלקה הראשונה. מספר קווי רכבת אקספרס, שחופפים לקווי הרכבות המאספות, עשויים לעצור בתחנות הסמוכות לקצוות הקו, בשל אי־שירות מקומי משלים לאותן תחנות. קווי רכבת אקספרס עשויים להיות גם מאספות, כשזהו הדבר המעשי ביותר לעשות, למשל נסיעה במהלך הלילה.
