קבוצת אקטון (בצרפתית: Groupe Actéon, באנגלית: Acteon Group) היא תת-קבוצה מבודדת ובלתי מיושבת, הנמצאת בדרום המזרח הרחוק של קבוצת אטול טואמוטו בפולינזיה הצרפתית. תת-קבוצה זו ממוקמת כ-1,400 קילומטרים דרום-מזרחית לטהיטי בקו רוחב: 21° 17' 60 S, קו אורך: 136° 29' W.[1]

אטולים

קבוצת אקטון כוללת ארבעה אטולים בגודל קטן יחסית:

באף אחד מהאיים באטולים אלה אין תושבים קבועים.

היסטוריה

האירופי המתועד הראשון שראה את קבוצת אקטון היה פדרו פרננדש דה קיירוש ב-5 בפברואר 1606.[2][3] הוא תיאר את הקבוצה כ"ארבעה אטולים עטורי דקלי קוקוס". בכתבים השונים של חברים אחרים במשלחת ספרדית זו, המתארים את המסע, הוצגו האיים כ-"Las Cuatro Coronadas" (ארבעת העטורים), "Las Cuatro Hermanas" (ארבע האחיות),"Las Virgenes" (הבתולות) או "Las Anegadas" (האלה המוצפים).[2]

הגילוי המחודש של קבוצת אקטון מזוהה עם תומאס אבריל, קפטן ספינת המסחר הטהיטית Amphitrite, שגילה את האיים הללו בשנת 1833. עם זאת, הם נצפו ב-14 במרץ 1828 על ידי האספן וחובב הטבע הבריטי יוּ קאמינג (אנ') בספינתו Discoverer, שהושטה בידי קפטן סמואל גרימווד.

שמם ניתן להם כעבור ארבע שנים, ב-1837, על ידי לורד אדוארד ראסל – מפקד ה-HMS Acteon – על שם ספינתו. בשנת 1983 אטולים אלה הוכו על ידי ציקלון.[4]
