זאב הרוי (הרווי) (באנגלית: Warren Zev Harvey; נולד ב-19 בדצמבר 1943) הוא פרופסור אמריטוס בחוג למחשבת ישראל באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים וזוכה פרס א.מ.ת במדעי הרוח לשנת תשס"ט 2009.

ביוגרפיה

זאב הרווי נולד וגדל בניו יורק ועשה את לימודיו האקדמיים בפילוסופיה מהתואר הראשון עד השלישי, באוניברסיטת קולומביה. סיים תואר ראשון ב-1965 וסיים דוקטורט ב-1973; עבודת הדוקטורט הייתה בנושא "ביקורתו של חסדאי קרשקש על תורת השכל הנקנה", והיא נערכה בהדרכתו של פרופסור אהרן (ארתור) היימן (אנ').

הרווי היה מרצה לפילוסופיה באוניברסיטת מקגיל במונטריאול בשנים 1972–1977. בשנת 1977 עלה לישראל ומאז הוא מלמד בחוג למחשבת ישראל שבאוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. התמנה לפרופסור מן המניין בשנת 1998. עמד בראש החוג למחשבת ישראל משנת 2008, שימש כעורך שותף של תרביץ בשנים 1992–1996, כיהן כמנהל משגב ירושלים, המרכז לחקר מורשת יהדות ספרד באוניברסיטה העברית, בשנים 1996–2000. שהה בשבתונים וכפרופסור אורח באוניברסיטאות מרילנד, ג'ורג'טאון, פנסילבניה (פעמיים), ישיבה יוניברסיטי, מקגיל, ייל (שלוש פעמים), קולומביה, בית הספר ללימודים גבוהים בפריז, קווינז קולג' (פעמיים) ובבית הספר ללימודים גבוהים במדעי החברה בפריז.

זאב הרווי נשוי לנורית, ספרנית במקצועה והם הורים לשלושה ילדים. אחיו, שמואל הרווי, הוא פרופסור אמריטוס בחוג לפילוסופיה באוניברסיטת בר-אילן.

מחקריו

מחקריו של זאב הרווי מתמקדים בפילוסופיה יהודית, בעיקר בימי הביניים. בין ההוגים בהם עסק הם רבי יהודה הלוי, הרמב"ם, רלב"ג, ר' נסים בן ראובן מגירונה ור' חסדאי קרשקש. בנוסף לכך חקר גם את שפינוזה והובס ופילוסופים יהודים בעת החדשה כגון משה מנדלסון, מרטין בובר, פרנץ רוזנצווייג, ישעיהו ליבוביץ ועמנואל לוינס.

במחקריו על הרמב"ם, הרווי כתב על השילוב בין פילוסופיה רדיקלית לבין ההלכה בהגותו של הרמב"ם, שלפיה העיון מחייב את החוק האלוהי והחוק האלוהי מחייב את העיון.[1]

הרווי גם הרחיב את מחקריו של שלמה פינס לגבי האפיסטמולוגיה הביקורתית של הרמב"ם.[2]

מחקריו של הרווי על ר' חסדאי קרשקש עוסקים בתורת השכל, פיזיקה, מטאפיזיקה, דטרמיניזם ובחירה ומושג האהבה. הרווי כתב על תרומתו של חסדאי קרשקש למהפכה המדעית באירופה בסוף המאה ה-14.[3] הוא כתב גם על יחסו של חסדאי קרשקש לקבלה.[4]

במחקריו על שפינוזה, הרווי עמד על זיקתו של שפינוזה לפילוסופיה היהודית, ובפרט לרמב"ם.[5][6]
