בית הספר לאחר התקיפה, אפריל 1970

הפצצת בית הספר בכפר בחר אל-בקר התרחשה ב-8 באפריל 1970 במהלך מלחמת ההתשה, כאשר מטוס פנטום של חיל האוויר הישראלי הפציץ בית ספר בכפר בחר אל-בקר שמדרום לפורט סעיד במצרים. בתקיפה נהרגו כ-46 ילדים ונפצעו יותר מ-50 ילדים. בית הספר עצמו הוחרב לאחר שפצצות ושני טילי אוויר-קרקע פגעו בקומה הראשונה של בית הספר, שהכילה שלוש כיתות לימוד[1][2][3].

ההתקפה נחשבת לגורם תורם להחלטת ישראל להשעות תקיפות עומק אחרות שתכננה במסגרת מבצעי פריחה[4].

התקיפה

המתקפה התנהלה במסגרת סדרת תקיפות לעומק מצרים בשם מבצעי פריחה, שכללה גם את ההפצצה המוקדמת של מפעל אבו זעבל, שם נהרגו 80 עובדים. בעוד שממשלת ישראל הודתה באופן מיידי בהפצצת המפעל, הפצצת בית הספר הוכחשה שוב ושוב על ידי שר הביטחון, משה דיין ושגריר ישראל באומות המאוחדות, יוסף תקוע[5]. תקוע ודיין טענו כי המודיעין הישראלי אסף תמונות של בית הספר באמצעות לוויין ריגול ועל פי הממצאים שלהם בית הספר היה ממוקם בתוך בסיס צבאי.

בין שני הצדדים, כמו גם בעלי בריתם, קיימת מחלוקת ביחס למניע ההתקפה וכתוצאה מכך לייעודה המתאים. בעוד שהצד המצרי ובעלי בריתם הערביים טוענים כי מדובר בפשע מלחמה שמטרתו הייתה לכפות על המצרים הפסקת אש[6][7] ,מקורות ישראליים ובעלי בריתם מהמערב רואים בכך טעות אנוש שנבעה מכך שישראל חשבה שבמיקום בו שכן בית הספר היה בסיס צבאי של מצרים[8][9].

אחרית דבר

ב-2016 דווח כי ישראל שילמה פיצויים בגין האירוע וזאת כדי לקדם את היחסים בין המדינות.
