דונלד ברוס רדפורד (באנגלית: Donald Bruce Redford;‏ 2 בספטמבר 1934 – 18 באוקטובר 2024) היה ארכאולוג ואגיפטולוג קנדי, פרופסור ללימודים קלאסיים באוניברסיטת המדינה של פנסילבניה.

קריירה אקדמית

רדפורד קיבל את התואר הראשון, השני והדוקטורט שלו באוניברסיטת מקגיל ובאוניברסיטת טורונטו בקנדה. בשנים 1969–1998 היה פרופסור חבר באוניברסיטת טורונטו. בשנת 1986 היה פרופסור אורח באוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב בישראל. בשנת 1998 עבר לאוניברסיטת פנסילבניה בארצות הברית.

רדפורד ניהל מספר חפירות חשובות במצרים, בין השאר בכרנכ, במנדס ובנקרופוליס של תבאי. ביחד עם רעייתו סוזאן רדפורד, אף היא אגיפטולוגית, הוא מנהל את מיזם מקדש אחנתון.

מראשית הקריירה האקדמית שלו עסק גם בארכאולוגיה מקראית ובחקר המקרא.

דעות

בספרו Egypt, Canaan, and Israel in Ancient Times, אשר זכה בפרס Biblical Archaeology Society לספר הטוב בארכאולוגיה לשנת 1993, טען כי שלטון החיקסוס במצרים וגירושם הפך למיתוס בתרבות כנען, והבסיס לסיפור יציאת מצרים ודמותו של משה.

עוד טען בספר כי כמעט כל שמות המקומות בסיפור יציאת מצרים המקראי משקפים מציאות של השושלת ה-26 בהיסטוריה של מצרים העתיקה, במאות ה-7 וה-6 לפנה"ס. עמדה זו פותחה והורחבה על ידי ישראל פינקלשטיין וניל אשר סילברמן בספרם ראשית ישראל.
