בן-ציון הראל (הירשוביץ) (3 ביוני 1892 – 19 בספטמבר 1972) היה רופא ישראלי וחבר הכנסת.

קורות חייו

הראל נולד בגולדינגן שבלטביה וסיים בה את לימודיו בחדר ובגימנסיה המקומית. לאחר מכן הוא למד כימיה באוניברסיטת ציריך ורפואה באוניברסיטת ברן. סיים את לימודי הרפואה בשנת 1916. במהלך לימודיו הוא החל בפעילות באגודות ציוניות בשווייץ ובשנת 1921 עלה לארץ ישראל ועסק עד 1934 ברפואה בעין חרוד. ביוני 1927 נבחר למועצה המדיצינית של קופת חולים[1]. בפברואר 1928 מונה לוועדה לבחינת המאבק נגד התפשטות המלריה, מטעם ועד הבריאות[2].

הראל היה בין מקימי בית חולים העמק[3] ועם פתיחת בית החולים באפריל 1930 שימש כמנהל בית החולים[4]. הוא מונה גם לרופא הראשי של קופת חולים כללית בצפון הארץ ובשנת 1935 נבחר ליו"ר הסתדרות הרופאים בארץ ישראל. בדצמבר 1935 הוא נמנה בין מייסדי אסותא בתל אביב והיה למנהלה הראשון[5]. בשנים 1940–1941 היה הממונה מטעם הוועד הלאומי ועיריית תל אביב על ענייני בריאות בשעת חירום. בשנים 1946–1948, לפני קום המדינה, היה מנהל ענייני הבריאות בוועד הלאומי. בשנת 1949 היה מייסד ומנהל בית חולים אלישע במרכז הכרמל בחיפה, במקביל לעבודתו כמנהל בית החולים אסותא[6]. הראל המשיך להחזיק בתפקיד מנהל אסותא במקביל לכהונתו בכנסת וגם לאחר פרישתו מהכנסת[7]. בשנת 1954 הוא דחה הצעה להתמודד על ראשות עיריית תל אביב[8].

במהלך הכנסת השנייה והכנסת השלישית כיהן הראל כחבר הכנסת מטעם הציונים הכלליים. בשנים 1962–1968 כיהן כיו"ר איגוד מנהלי בתי החולים בישראל[9][10][11]. בקיץ 1962 הוא התמנה לחבר מועצת הבריאות[12].

הראל נקבר בבית הקברות נחלת יצחק שבתל אביב[13].
