ארנסט אלכס רוטס (באפריקאנס: Ernst Roets; נולד ב-5 בספטמבר 1985) הוא פעיל פוליטי, סופר ויוצר קולנוע אפריקאנרי. הוא משנה למנכ"ל ארגון זכויות האזרח AfriForum ומנכ"ל חברת הפקת הסרטים Forum Films.

ראשית חייו והשכלה

רוטס גדל בעיירה החקלאית צנין, בפרובינציית טרנסוואל (כיום בפרובינציית לימפופו), שם סיים ב־2003 את בית הספר התיכון מרנסקי. הוא קיבל תואר LLB בשנת 2009 מאוניברסיטת פרטוריה. במהלך תקופת הלימודים שלו כיהן בשלל תפקדי מנהיגות שונים, כולל במועצת הסטודנטים ובסנאט, באותה אוניברסיטה.

במהלך תקופת הלימודים שלו שימש רואס כחבר מייסד ויו"ר הלאומי הראשון של הנוער סולידריות. בשנת 2008, הנוער סולידריות שינה את שמו והארגון הפך לנוער אפריפורום (AfriForum Jeug). רוטס קיבל את התואר LLM במשפט ציבורי בשנת 2016 בהצטיינות. כותרת עבודת הדוקטורט שלו הייתה: סקר אמצעים על פי החוקה הדרום אפריקאית לאכיפת זכויות בסיסיות של קהילות מיעוטים (באפריקאנס: ’n Peiling van die middele kragtens die Suid-Afrikaanse Grondwet, ter afdwinging van die basiese regte van minderheidsgemeenskappe)[1]. רוטס עובד כעת על הדוקטורט שלו במשפט ציבורי באוניברסיטת פרטוריה.

קריירה

רוטס נעצר בשנת 2010 לאחר שניסה להתקין שלט עם הכיתוב "ברוך הבא לפרטוריה" לאורך הכביש המהיר N1. פעולה זו הייתה במחאה נגד השימוש של עיריית מטרופוליטן טשוואנה במילה "טשוואנה" במקום "פרטוריה" בהתייחסות לשם עיר הבירה במהלך גביע העולם בכדורגל ב־2010[2].

בשנת 2011 מונה רואץ לתפקיד המשנה למנכ"ל AfriForum. בשנת 2011 הוא העיד מטעם AfriForum בתיק של AfriForum נכד מלמה[3]. בשם AfriForum, הוא הגיש כנגד יוליוס מלמה על הסתה לאחר שמלמה שר את השיר "Dubula i’Bhunu" (הרוג את הבור) בכינוסים פוליטיים שונים. בתביעה זאת בית המשפט מצא את מלמה אשם[4].

רוטס נאם בכמה ועידות של האומות המאוחדות, במיוחד בנושא התקפות חווה ומצב זכויות המיעוטים בדרום אפריקה. בשנת 2015 רוטס הגיב בחריפות במשרדי האו"ם בז'נבה להאשמה של ממשלת דרום אפריקה כי מי שמבקש לתעדף את נושא התקפות החווה עושה זאת רק משום שהם רודפים אחר סדר יום גזעי ורוצים להחזיר את האפרטהייד. באותה שנה הגיש רוטס תלונה על אפליה נגד ממשלת דרום אפריקה לדיווח המיוחד של האו"ם על מצבם של מגיני זכויות האדם, לאחר שממשלת דרום אפריקה התערבה פוליטית באו"ם כדי למנוע מאפריפורום מעמד של ארגון לא ממשלתי עם האו"ם[5].

התקפות חווה

רוטס עמד בראש קמפיין של AfriForum מאז 2012 לתעדוף הטיפול בהתקפות חווה.

הרוג את הבור

רוטס הוא כתב את הספר הרוג את הבור (Kill the Boer), שיצא לאור ביוני 2018. הספר עוסק במציאות האכזרית של התקפות חווה בדרום אפריקה. הספר טוען כי ממשלת דרום אפריקה, מסיבות שונות, שותפה למשבר. הסיבות הללו כוללות: סירוב לתעדף את הטיפול בהתקפות חווה (למרות עלייה בהתקפות); הסטריאוטיפ השלילי של חקלאים לבנים גורמים שונים בפוליטיקה הדרום אפריקנית מפיצים; הרומנטיזציה של אלימות כלפי חקלאים; שיח שנאה מפלטפורמות פוליטיות; והעלבון וההשפלה של קורבנות התקפות החווה. הספר חושף סיפורים על מעורבותם הישירה של חברי קונגרס הלאומי האפריקאי (מפלגת השלטון), ממשלת דרום אפריקה ושירות המשטרה בדרום אפריקה בתכנון וביצוע התקפות אלה.

עוד נטען בספר כי יש לראות שדרום אפריקה נעה לכיוון של טיהור אתנית כלפי האוכלוסייה הלבנה. בהתבסס על ניתוח של אלפי כתבות חדשותיות, הספר טוען שגם התקשורת הדרום אפריקאית שותפה להפצת הסטריאוטיפים השליליים של חקלאים לבנים. כמו כן הספר טוען שעל הממשלה לתעדף את הטיפול בהתקפות חווה עקב התדירות יוצאת הדופן של התקפות אלה, האכזריות יוצאת הדופן שלהם, התפקיד הייחודי שממלאים החקלאים בחברה ואת הנסיבות הייחודיות בהן חקלאים נמצאים.

פילמוגרפיה

גיבורים מזוהמים (באנגלית: Tainted Heroes) הוא סרט תיעודי דרום אפריקני שהופק על ידי סרטי פורום בהנחיית אלריך איסל עם ארנסט רוטס וביאטריס פרטוריוס כמפיקים. הסרט עוסק במאבקו האלים של הקונגרס הלאומי האפריקני נגד האפרטהייד בדרום אפריקה בין השנים 1976–1994. הסרט התיעודי מבוסס על הספר "People's War: New Light on the Wrackle for South Africa" מאת אנתאה ג'פרי[6].

חיים אישיים

רוטס הוא בנם של שראל ארנולדוס ואירמה מרייט (לבית ארנסט) מאורניה. רוטס התחתן עם לאני (לבית דה קוק) ב-5 בדצמבר 2009[7]. הוא גם חלק מלהקת מטאל כבד בשם "Soms Wen Die Wolf"[8].
