אניה (באירית: Áine) היא אלת אהבה ופריון, וכן עושר וריבונות אירית. היא מזוהה עם הקיץ ועם השמש,[1], ולעיתים היא מיוצגת על ידי סוסה אדומה. בתור אלת אהבה ופריון, היא נחשבת לאחראית על יבולים וחיות, ומקושרת לתחום החקלאות. על פי המיתולוגיה האירית, היא בתו של אן דגדה (An Dagda) ראש שבט ודמות עצמתית מגזע האלים (Tuatha Dé Danann),[2] ואחותה של איילין (Aillen). משפחות איריות רבות טוענות שהן צאצאיות של אניה.

אניה מקושרת מאוד עם מחוז לימריק. גבעת נוקייני (Cnoc Áine) קרוי על שמה, והיה בעבר אתר פולחני לכבודה, בו התקיימו טקסי אש וברכות לאדמה, המתועדים לפחות עד לשנת 1879.[3] היא מקושרת גם לאתרים נוספים כגון טובראנה (Tobar Áine) אשר במחוז טיירון;[4] דונאני (Dun Áine), אר במחוז לאות', ליסאן (באירית: Lios Áine), במחוז דרי; ונוקייני שבמחוז דניגול.

במיתולוגיה האירית

בסיפורים מוקדמים, מזוהה אניה עם מלך מנסטר המיתולוגי למחצה, אייליל אולום, אשר על פי הסיפור אנס אותה, תקיפה שהסתיימה כשאניה נשכה את אוזנו מראשו, ומכאן השם אולום "חד-אוזן". על פי החוק האירי העתיק, רק אדם "ללא פגם" יכול לשלוט; ובכך אניה מנעה ממנו את היכולת להיות מלך. בתור התגלמות הריבונות, היא יכולה להעניק ולקחת מאדם את זכות השלטון. צאצאיו של אולום, בני היוגנכטה (שושלת מנסטר של דרום האי אירלנד), מייחסים לעצמם את אניה כאם קדמונית.[5]

בסיפורים אחרים, אניה היא אשתו של ג'רלד פיצג'רלד, דוכס דזמונד השלישי. גם בסיפור זה אין הנישואים בהסכמה, אלא פיצג'רלד אונס את אניה (כפי הנראה מבוסס על סיפורו של אייליל אולום), והיא מתנקמת על ידי הפיכתו לאווז, או הריגתו, או שניהם. כך גם בני משפחת פיצג'רלד טוענים ליחס משפחתי לאניה; למרות המוצא הנורמני של השבט, בני פיצג'רלד נהיו ידועים כמי ש"יותר אירים מאשר האירים עצמם".

בגרסאות אחרות של המיתוס, אניה היא אשתו או בתו של אל הים, מננן מק ליר. סעודת ליל אמצע הקיץ נערכה לכבודה. במחוז לימריק, היא ידועה מזמנים פחות עתיקים כמלכת הפיות.
