אנדריי קרפטי (באנגלית: Andrej Karpathy; נולד ב-23 באוקטובר 1986) הוא מדען מחשבים קנדי שעבד כמנהל הבינה המלאכותית והטייס האוטומטי בטסלה. הוא עבד גם ב־OpenAI והיה חלק משמעותי מפריצת הדרך בהמצאת ChatGPT,[1] שם התמחה בלמידה עמוקה וראייה ממוחשבת.[2]

ביוגרפיה

קרפטי נולד בברטיסלבה, צ'כוסלובקיה (כיום סלובקיה)[3][4][5][6] ועבר עם משפחתו לטורונטו כשהיה בן 15.[7] הוא השלים את התואר הראשון שלו במדעי המחשב ובפיזיקה באוניברסיטת טורונטו ב-2009[8] ואת התואר השני שלו באוניברסיטת קולומביה הבריטית ב-2011.[8]

הוא קיבל תואר דוקטור מאוניברסיטת סטנפורד בשנת 2016, תוך התמקדות בשילוב בין עיבוד שפה טבעית וראייה ממוחשבת, על ידי שימוש במודלי LLM ומודלי למידה עמוקה המתאימים למשימה זו.[9]

קריירה ומחקר

הוא חיבר והיה המדריך הראשי של קורס הלמידה העמוקה הראשון בסטנפורד, CS 231n: Convolutional Neural Networks for Visual Recognition בהנחיית אנדרו אנג.[10] הקורס הפך לקלאסיקה בעולם מדעי הנתונים כמו כן הוא הפך לאחת הכיתות הגדולות ביותר בסטנפורד, וגדלה מ-150 תלמידים ב-2015 ל-750 ב-2017

הוא חבר מייסד של קבוצת המחקר של הבינה המלאכותית OpenAI,[11][12] שם היה מדען מחקר מ-2015 עד 2017. ביוני 2017 הוא הפך למנהל הבינה המלאכותית של טסלה ועבד ישירות תחת אילון מאסק.[13][14][15] הוא נבחר לאחד מהחדשנים מתחת לגיל 35 של MIT Technology Review לשנת 2020.[16] לאחר שלקח שבתון של מספר חודשים מטסלה, הוא הודיע שהוא עוזב את החברה ביולי 2022.[17] החל מפברואר 2023, הוא עושה סרטוני YouTube על איך ליצור רשתות עצביות מלאכותיות.[18]

ב-9 בפברואר 2023 דווח כי הודיע שהוא חוזר ל-OpenAI.[19] אך שנה לאחר מכן ב-13 בפברואר 2024, דובר עזב את בשנית.[20]
