אנג'י דון קרייג (באנגלית: Angela Dawn Craig; נולדה ב-14 בפברואר 1972) היא פוליטיקאית אמריקאית, המכהנת כחברת בית הנבחרים של ארצות הברית מטעם מחוז הקונגרס השני של מדינת מינסוטה.

ביוגרפיה

קרייג נולדה בעיר וסט הלנה שבארקנסו, וגדלה כבת לאם חד-הורית ענייה[2]. היא סיימה את לימודיה בבית הספר התיכון נטלטון השוכן בג'ונסבורו, ובאוניברסיטת ממפיס השלימה לימודי תואר ראשון בעיתונות. לאחר לימודיה הגבוהים קרייג החלה לעבוד בעיתון "The Commercial Appeal" בממפיס והתמקצעה ככתבת. היא התגוררה בלונדון בשנים 2002–2005, ועבדה בחברה "סנט ג'וד מדיקל" (St. Jude Medical) בתחום משאבי אנוש ותקשורת מ-2005 עד 2017. בבחירות 2016 התמודדה קרייג אל בית הנבחרים של ארצות הברית במחוז הקונגרס השני של מינסוטה. היא הודיעה על מועמדותה בטרם ג'ון קליין המכהן הכריז על פרישתו. בבחירות המקדימות במפלגה הדמוקרטית לא ניצבה בפני התנגדות, ובבחירות הכלליות התמודדה נגד המועמד הרפובליקני ג'ייסון מ. לואיס. היא הפסידה לו בפער של פחות מ-7,000 קולות[3].

בבחירות האמצע ב-2018 התמודדה בשנית מול חבר הקונגרס לואיס, והפעם ידה הייתה על העליונה[4]. היא גברה עליו ביום הבחירות הכלליות ונהפכה לאימא הלסבית הראשונה שנבחרה אל הקונגרס, לאישה הראשונה שייצגה את מחוז הקונגרס השני של מינסוטה בבית הנבחרים, ולאדם הלהט"בי הראשון ממינסוטה בקונגרס[5]. היא הושבעה לתפקידה בינואר 2019, ובקונגרס ה-118 של ארצות הברית היא חברה בוועדת החקלאות ובוועדת אנרגיה ומסחר.

בחירות 2020 במחוז הקונגרס השני של מינסוטה היו ייחודיות. אדם ויקס, מועמד "מפלגת מריחואנה חוקית עכשיו", אמר בהקלטה מאומתת כי פעילים רפובליקנים הציעו לו 15,000 דולר אמריקני אם יתתמודד לבית הנבחרים האמריקאי במחוז הקונגרס השני כדי "להסיט קולות" מקרייג. ויקס אמר בהקלטה: "הם (הרפובליקנים) רוצים שאתמודד כמועמד שלישי וליברל, מה שאני לא. אני יכול לגלם את תפקיד הליברל, אתם יודעים"[6]. מנהיגי קבוצות למען לגליזציה של סמים קלים במינסוטה וארגונים פוליטיים אחרים במדינה גינו את האסטרטגיה של המפלגה הרפובליקנית, וכינו אותה "חסרת מצפון"[7].

בשלהי ספטמבר, ויקס מת כתוצאה ממנת יתר, והבחירות היו כמרקחה. החוק במינסוטה מחייב בחירות מיוחדות אם מועמד מטעם מפלגה גדולה מת בתוך 79 יום מיום הבחירות. החוק נחקק כדי למנוע חזרה על הבחירות לסנאט של ארצות הברית ב-2002, בהן הסנאטור המכהן פול ולסטון נהרג בהתרסקות מטוס 11 יום לפני הבחירות הכלליות. מכיוון ש"מפלגת מריחואנה חוקית עכשיו" הייתה מפלגה גדולה במינסוטה (מועמדה ב-2018 לתפקיד מבקר המדינה גרף חמישה אחוזים מקולות הבוחרים), הבחירות לבית הנבחרים במחוז נדחו ל-9 בפברואר 2021[8]. קרייג תבעה את קיום הבחירות כהלכה ב-3 בנובמבר, וטענה כי הדרישה לבחירות מיוחדות עשויה להותיר את מחוז הקונגרס השני ללא ייצוג בקונגרס למשך יותר מחודש, ותפר את חוק הבחירות הפדרלי[9]. בתביעתה של קרייג, המועמד הרפובליקני טיילר קיסטנר הצטרף למזכיר המדינה של מינסוטה כנתבע. השופט הפדרלי שדן בתיק פסק לטובת קרייג, וציין כי חוק הבחירות הפדרלי מונע את דחיית מועד הבית לבית הנבחרים בכל הנסיבות למעט כאלה בודדות[10]. קיסטנר הגיש ערעור לבית המשפט הפדרלי השמיני לערעורים, שגם שם זכתה קרייג. בית המשפט לערעורים קבע כי מותו של מועמד מפלגה בעלת "כוח בחירות צנוע" אינו יכול להצדיק דחיית הבחירות. לאחר שנדחתה פנייתו של קיסטנר לבית המשפט העליון של ארצות הברית, הבחירות התקיימו כמתכונן ב-3 בנובמבר 2020[11].
