"אימה אמריקאית: 1984" (באנגלית: American Horror Story: 1984) היא עונתה התשיעית של סדרת האימה האמריקאית "אימה אמריקאית", שנוצרה והופקה על ידי ראיין מרפי ובראד פלצ'וק, שהוכרזה רשמית על ידי רשת "FX" ב-12 בינואר 2017 ועלתה לשידור ב-18 בספטמבר 2019.[1] העונה הנוכחית שואבת השראה רבה מסרטי סלאשר קלאסיים שהיו בשיאם במהלך שנות ה-80, דוגמת "ליל המסכות" ו"יום שישי ה-13".

לעונה הנוכחית חוזרים אמה רוברטס, בילי לורד, קודי פרן, לסלי גרוסמן, לילי רייב, דילן מקדרמוט, ג'ון קרול לינץ', פין ויטרוק ולזלי ג'ורדן מהעונות הקודמות ואליהם מצטרפים גאס קנוורת'י, אנג'ליקה רוס, מת'יו מוריסון, דה רון הורטון וזאק וילה. 1984 היא העונה הראשונה של הסדרה מאז תחילתה בה השחקנים הקבועים אוון פיטרס ושרה פולסון לא מופיעים.

ב-12 בינואר 2017, הסדרה "אימה אמריקאית" חודשה לעונות תשיעית, כחלק מחידוש דו-עונתי לסדרה, במקביל לאישור עונה השמינית, "אפוקליפסה", ואושר שהעונה תשודר בשנת 2019.[8] ב-10 באפריל 2019, יוצר הסדרה, ראיין מרפי הודיע שהעונה תיקרא 1984,[9] ואישר שהעונה תשאב השפעה והשראה רבה מסרטי האימה הקלאסיים של שנות ה-80, כמו "ליל המסכות" ו"יום שישי ה-13".[10]

ב-24 ביוני 2019, רשת "FX" הכריזה שהעונה תעלה לשידור ב-18 בספטמבר 2019.[1]

ליהוק

ב-6 בפברואר 2019, מרפי חשף כי אמה רוברטס וגאס קנוורת'י יככבו בתפקיד ראשי בעונה הנוכחית.[2] ביולי 2019, השחקנית אנג'ליקה רוס, שהופיעה בסדרה אחרת של מרפי, "פוזה" הודיעה שהיא תשתתף בעונה הנוכחית בתפקיד ראשי.[6] ב-11 ביולי 2019 אושרו כי חברי צוות השחקנים מהעונות הקודמות; בילי לורד, קודי פרן, לסלי גרוסמן וג'ון קרול לינץ' ישובו לעונה הנוכחית, עם חברי הצוות החדשים; מת'יו מוריסון, דה רון הורטון וזאק וילה.[5] באוקטובר 2019, אושר שהשחקן דילן מקדרמוט ישוב להופיע בעונה הנוכחית דרך תמונות שהודלפו מהצילומים, ובמקביל השחקנית לילי רייב אישרה דרך חשבון האינסטגרם שלה שהיא תשוב לעונה הנוכחית.[11][12] בנובמבר 2019, אושר שהשחקן פין ויטרוק ישוב בתפקיד אורח עבור פרק הסיום של העונה.[13]

ב-2 באפריל 2019, השחקן הקבוע של הסדרה, אוון פיטרס, שכיכב בכל שמונה עונותיה הקודמות, הודיע שהוא לא ייקח חלק בעונה זו.[14] ב-23 במאי 2019, בילי אייכנר, שהופיע בשתי עונותיה הקודמות של הסדרה, הצהיר כי הוא לא יחזור לעונה הנוכחית.[15] ב-8 ביולי 2019, הוכרז שהשחקנית הקבועה של הסדרה, שרה פולסון, תופיע בתפקיד קטן יותר בעונה הנוכחית בשל התחייבויותיה לסדרת מקור של "נטפליקס" בהפקתו של מרפי, "רטשד".[16]; עם זאת, באוקטובר 2019, השחקנית עצמה אישרה שהיא לא תופיע בעונה הנוכחית כמתוכנן במקור.[17]
