שירה פמיניסטית

שירה פמיניסטית נכתבה, לאורך הדורות, בעיקר על ידי נשים בהשראת עקרונות ורעיונות פמיניסטיים, והיא נבחנת באופן בו היא מקדמת רעיונות אלו או מפתחת אותם.[1] שירה זאת עשויה להיכתב במטרה מודעת לבטא עקרונות פמיניסטיים, אם כי לפעמים היא ממותגת כפמיניסטית על ידי ביקורת ספרות בעידן מאוחר יותר.[1] ביקורת הספרות מתייחסות לכותבות המבטאות רעיונות פמיניסטיים גם אם לא היו חברות פעילות בתנועת מחאה בתקופתן.[1] עם זאת, תנועות וארגונים פמיניסטיים אימצו שירה פמיניסטית ככלי לתקשורת עם קהלים ציבוריים באמצעות אנתולוגיות, אוספי שירה וקריאות ציבוריות.[1]

מבחינה פורמלית, השירה הפמיניסטית מבקשת לא פעם לערער הנחות יסוד לגבי השפה ולגבי תפיסות מציאות רווחות.[2] בדרך כלל, שירה זאת פועלת למצב חוויות חיים של נשים כבעלות תוקף וראויות לתשומת לב. במקביל, היא, במקרים רבים, גם מדגישה את חוויותיהם של מיעוטים וקבוצות חברתיות מוחלשות.[2] לפעמים שירים פמיניסטים מבקשים לגלם חוויות של נשים ספציפיות, ולעיתים קרובות הם מהדהדים הצטלבות של דיכויים הקשורות לסוגיות של מוצא, גזע, מין, מגדר, מוגבלות, מעמד או הגירה.[2] התמקדות פואטית זאת הובילה לכך שכתבי עת פמיניסטים כמו So To Speak מצהירים על כוונתם לפרסם עבודות של נשים ואנשים לא בינאריים בפרט.
