קבוצת לונדון (באנגלית: The London Group) היא אגודה שבסיסה בלונדון, אנגליה, שנוצרה כדי להציע הזדמנויות תצוגה נוספות לאמנים מלבד זאת של האקדמיה המלכותית לאמנויות. הקבוצה הוקמה בשנת 1913, והיא אחד הארגונים הוותיקים ביותר של אמנים בעולם. היא הוקמה מהמיזוג של קבוצת קמדן טאון, שהייתה קבוצה של ציירים גברים בלבד, וקבוצת רחוב פיצרוי. היא מקיימת תערוכות פתוחות לחברים ולאמנים אורחים.

סקירה כללית

קבוצת לונדון מורכבת מאמנים פעילים. כל צורות האמנות מיוצגות. הקבוצה מתפקדת באופן דמוקרטי. יש לה תקנון כתוב, והנהלתה נבחרת מדי שנה, עם ועדות עבודה וועדת בחירה. בדרך כלל יש בין 80 ל-100 חברים והתשלום השנתי נגבה לכיסוי עלויות השכרת גלריות ועלויות ארגוניות. לקבוצה אין מקום תצוגה קבוע והיא שוכרת שטחי גלריות בלונדון, כמו בגלריית מנייר או גלריית בנקסייד. חברים חדשים נבחרים במשך השנים, מתוך מועמדויות שהמליצו החברים הנוכחיים.[1]

היסטוריה

קבוצת לונדון הוקמה בשנת 1913, כאשר קבוצת קמדן טאון התאחדה עם אמנים אנגלים עצמאיים אחרים כדי לערער על שליטתה של האקדמיה המלכותית לאמנויות, שהפכה למרכז שמרנות וקפאון יצירתי.

קבוצת לונדון יצאה ממיזוג של קבוצת רחוב פיצרוי וקבוצת קמדן טאון שנועדה רק לגברים. בין החברים המייסדים היו האמנית והפטרונית אתל סנדס, בת זוגה אנה הופ הדסון,[2] וולטר סיקרט, ג'ייקוב אפשטיין, ווינדהם לואיס, רוברט בוואן ואשתו סטניסלבה דה קרלובסקה, והנרי גאודייר-ברז'סקה. נשים מייסדות נוספות כללו את מרג'ורי שרלוק, מרי גודווין ורות דוגט.

לאורך ההיסטוריה שלה, קיימה קבוצת לונדון תערוכות פתוחות כדי לעודד ולתמוך באמנים אחרים הנאבקים כדי להציג את עבודותיהם בפומבי. ההגשות הפתוחות מוצגות יחד עם עבודתם של חברים ואמנים אורחים קיימים. בשנת 1963 נחוג יובל החמישים של הקבוצה, והתערוכה הדגישה את התפקיד שמילאו נשים ביצירת הארגון ובפעילות בו.[3]

בשנת 2013, גלריית בן אורי חגגה את 100 שנים לקבוצת לונדון בתערוכה נוספת.

קבוצת לונדון ממשיכה להתקיים כיום עם למעלה מ-80 חברים. בשנת 2011 הציגה התערוכה הפתוחה מעל 140 אמנים במפעל צ'לו. הקבוצה חגגה 100 שנה להיווסדה בשנת 2013 עם כמה מופעים, היסטוריים ועכשוויים.
