סרט מטוגן (במקור: The Kentucky Fried Movie) הוא סרט קומדיה אמריקאי משנת 1977 מבית היוצר של צוקר, אברהמס וצוקר ("טיסה נעימה", "סודי ביותר!", "האקדח מת מצחוק"), בבימויו של ג'ון לנדיס. סרט זה נחשב לסרט הראשון ופורץ הדרך של ז'אנר הפרודיה והמוקומנטרי.

רקע

התסריטאים דייוויד צוקר, ג'ים אברהמס וג'רי צוקר פנו למספר אולפנים בהוליווד, בניסיון להפיק גרסה קולנועית למופע האלתורים המצליח שלהם, שכבר רץ מול קהל בעבר, בשם קנטאקי פרייד תיאטר (במקור: Kentucky Fried Theater). האולפנים כולם דחו אותם, בטענה כי "הקהל לא אוהב סרטים אשר מורכבים ממערכונים". השלושה, אשר האמינו בחומרים שלהם, החליטו לעשות את הסרט שלהם בעצמם, באופן עצמאי[1]. השלושה מימנו מכיסם סרט קצר באורך של עשר דקות, בעלות של 35 אלף דולר, ואיתו הם שבו ופנו לאולפנים בהוליווד, הפעם בצירוף הבמאי הצעיר ג'ון לנדיס. עם זאת, האולפנים עמדו בסירובם ודחו אותם[2].

השלושה פנו אל קים יורגנסון, בעליו של בית קולנוע, וביקשו ממנו כי יקרין את הסרט שלהם לפני אחד מהסרטים באורך מלא שהוא מקרין בבית הקולנוע שלו. סקרן לראות כיצד יגיב הקהל יורגנסון הסכים, ולאחר שהתרשם לחיוב מתגובת הקהל - הוא הציע כי יגייס בעצמו את סכום הכסף הדרוש, על מנת שהאחים צוקר יוכלו להשלים גרסה באורך מלא של סירטם. יורגנסון הקרין את הסרט הקצר לעמיתיו ושכנע אותם להשקיע 650,000 $. כאשר יצא לאקרנים - סרט מטוגן הפך להצלחה קופתית ובהמשך אף בספריות הווידאו, והביא להכנסות של 7,100,000 $[2] (מהשכרות בארצות הברית בלבד).

תקציב ההפקה המקורי של הסרט היה, כאמור, $650,000 אולם בסופו סכום זה עלה לכמיליון דולר, בשל הוצאות שונות בשלב הפוסט-פרודקשן. בסך הכל הסרט הכניס כ-20 מיליון דולר (בארצות הברית וברחבי העולם יחד), מה שהופך אותו לאחד הסרטים הכי משתלמים כלכלית של שנת 1970, ולאחת הקומדיות המצליחות ביותר של כל הזמנים. עם הזמן, הסרט אף נחשב לסרט פולחן (בתוך ז'אנר הקומדיה).
