הרפובליקה האוטונומית של נחצ'יבאן (באזרית: Naxçıvan Muxtar Respublikası) או בקיצור נחצ'יבאן, היא רפובליקה אוטונומית של אזרבייג'ן המופרדת ממנה על ידי ארמניה. מבחינה גאופוליטית הרפובליקה היא מובלעת ללא מוצא לים הגובלת בארמניה במזרח ובצפון (221 ק"מ של גבול), באיראן בדרום (179 ק"מ), ובטורקיה בצפון-מערב (15 ק"מ). הרפובליקה משתרעת על כ-5,500 קמ"ר ובירתה נחצ'יבאן, מקום משכנה של אוניברסיטת נחצ'יבאן.

משנת 1995 מכהן ואסיף טאליבוב כיושב ראש הפרלמנט של נחצ'יבאן.

היסטוריה

על פי המסורת הארמנית נוסדה נחצ'יבאן על ידי נח.[1] הממצאים הארכאולוגיים המוקדמים ביותר שנמצאו באזור תוארכו לתקופת האבן החדשה. מאוחר יותר הפכה נחצ'יבאן לחלק מממלכת מני (ממלכת מיני), אוררטו ומדי, ובשנת 521 לפנה"ס הפכה לחלק מאחשדרפנות ארמניה תחת הממלכה האחמנית. לאחר מותו של אלכסנדר הגדול, בשנת 323 לפנה"ס, ניסו מספר מפקדים מקדוניים (גנרלים של אלכסנדר הגדול) להשתלט על האזור ללא הצלחה. בשנת 189 לפנה"ס הפכה נחצ'יבאן לחלק מממלכת ארמניה.

במאה ה-18 הוקמה בשטח נחצ'יבאן חאנות פאודלית פרסית, חאנות נחצ'יבאן ונוהלה על ידי שליטים אזריים מקומיים כשבפועל האוכלוסייה הארמנית במובלעת הייתה לרוב. החאנות התפוגגה בשנת 1828, הטריטוריות שלה אוחדו עם הטריטוריות של חאנות ירוואן, שבשנת 1840 נקראה פלך ירוואן והשתייכה למלכות המשנה של הקווקז (האימפריה הרוסית). נחצ'יבאן הפכה לאוייזד נחצ'יבאן תת-מחוז של פלך ירוואן (גוברניית ירוואן).

לאחר תקופת עצמאות קצרה כחלק מהרפובליקה הדמוקרטית של אזרבייג'ן נכבשה נחצ'יבאן, ביולי 1920, על ידי הצבא האדום.

ב־16 במרץ 1921 חתמו רוסיה הסובייטית וטורקיה על הסכם במוסקבה, לפיו נחיצ'באן תועבר לטיפול אזרבייג'ן הסובייטית. לאחר שהועברו השטחים לשליטת אזרבייג'ן הושמדו על ידי השלטונות האזריים כ-219 כנסיות ארמניות ומאות חצ'קרים שהיוו הוכחה חיה ועדות היסטורית לשייכות הארמנית של המובלעת[דרוש מקור].

בשנת 1922 הפכה לחלק מהרפובליקה הסוציאל-פדרטיבית הסובייטית של עבר הקווקז. ב-9 בפברואר 1924 הוקמה הרפובליקה האוטונומית הסובייטית הסוציאליסטית של נחצ'יבאן או בקיצור "נחצ'יבאן אסס"ר" כחלק מאזרבייג'ן הסובייטית.

עם התפוררות ברית המועצות, הכריזה נחצ'יבאן על עצמאותה ב-17 בנובמבר 1990, במחאה על דיכוי התנועה הלאומית של אזרבייג'ן. כעשרה חודשים לפני שאזרבייג'ן עצמה הכריזה על עצמאותה מברית המועצות. עם הכרזת אזרבייג'ן על עצמאותה הפכה נחצ'יבאן לרפובליקה אוטונומית של אזרבייג'ן.

בשנת 1998 לאחר ניצחון הצד הארמני במלחמת נגורנו קרבאך הראשונה, בית העלמין העתיק בעיר ג'ולפה הושמד כליל על ידי השלטונות האזריים. במרוצת השנים דרשו ארגונים בינלאומיים שונים בהם אונסקו לחקור ולגשת לשטח בית העלמין אך נענו בסירוב, לפי תצלומי לוויין שביצעה ארצות הברית בשנת 2010 העדות החיה לאחת הקהילות המשגשות במובלעת אוששה כמושמדת.

מעבר הגישה היבשתי היחיד למובלעת האזרית נחצ'יבאן היה דרך שטחה של הרפובליקה האיסלאמית של איראן.[2] האזורים שאפו להקים מסדרון יבשתי מאזרבייג'ן למטבעות שיעבור דרך ארמניה. ישנו מסדרון אראליק שמאפשר לה תקשורת יציבה עם טורקיה, שותפתם של האזרים.[3]

בשנת 2012 המקום הוכה על ידי רעידת אדמה שגרמה למוות של מאות ואף אלפי אנשים.
