מנוסת בהלה[1] היא ריצה מרוכזת ובלתי מבוקרת כפעולת דחף המוני בקרב חיות עדר או קהל של אנשים. כאשר הקבוצה הקולקטיבית מתחילה לרוץ, לעיתים קרובות בניסיון להימלט מאיום או סכנה.

מינים לא-אנושיים שנפוצה אצלם מנוסת בהלה כוללים זברות, פרות, פילים, איילים, גנו כחול, ניבתנים,[2] סוסי פרא, וקרנפים.

מנוסת בהלה בבקר

כל דבר יוצא דופן עלול לגרום למנוסת בהלה בקרב בקר. בעיקר בלילה, רעשים כמו של הדלקת גפרור, אדם קופץ מסוס, סוס רועד, או מכת ברק ידועים כגורמים למנוסת בהלה.

מנוסת בהלה גדולה בדרך כלל מנטרלת את כל מה שנמצא בדרכה. עם בעלי חיים, מנסים הבוקרים לשנות את כיוון העדר הנע לתוך עצמו, כך שהוא ירוץ במעגלים במקום לברוח לקצה צוק או לנהר, וכן להימנע מפגיעה בחיי אדם או ברכוש. הטקטיקות המשמשות על מנת לשנות את כיוון העדר לעצמו כוללות ירי אקדח, שיוצר רעש כדי לגרום למנהיגי המנוסה להסתובב.[3]

בעלי חיים שנוהגים לנוס בבהלה, במיוחד בקר, נוטים פחות לעשות זאת לאחר שאכלו והתפזרו לקבוצות קטנות יותר כדי לעכל את המזון.[3] כדי לצמצם עוד יותר את הסיכון למנוסה, בוקרים לפעמים שרים או שורקים כדי להרגיע את העדרים עם רדת הלילה. המשגיחים בלילה נמנעים מלעשות דברים שעלולים להבהיל את העדר ואף להתרחק ממנו לפני ירידה מסוס או הדלקת גפרור.[4]

לפעמים אנשים גורמים למנוסת בקר בכוונה, כמרכיב של לוחמה או ציד, כמו חלק מהעמים הילידים באמריקה, שהיו ידועים בכך שהתגרו בעדרי ביזונים כדי לגרום להם לרדוף אחרי עדרי תאו למטרות ציד.

מנוסות בהלה בבני אדם

לדברי מומחים, "מנוסות בהלה" אמיתיות ופאניקה[5] מתרחשות לעיתים נדירות (בעיקר כאשר אנשים רבים בורחים מפחד, כמו למשל מאש),[6] ורמיסת אנשים במצבים כאלו לעיתים נדירות גורמת לפציעות קטלניות.[7] מרבית מנוסות הבהלה המדווחות הן למעשה תדחוקות קהל.[8]
