הירי במשרדי קפיטל גאזֶט הוא פיגוע ירי שהתרחש ב-28 ביוני 2018 במשרדי ההוצאה לאור של העיתונים "The Capital" ו"Maryland Gazette", בעיר אנאפוליס במדינת מרילנד, ארצות הברית.

תקרית הירי

אדם חמוש פרץ לחדר החדשות, ופתח בירי ללא הבחנה. מן הירי נהרגו חמישה אנשים ונפצעו נוספים. בין ההרוגים היה העורך של הקפיטל רוב היאסן (אנ'), אחיו של הסופר קרל היאסן.[1] פיל דייוויס, כתב משטרה ב"קפיטל גאזט" סיפר כי החמוש ירה דרך דלת הזכוכית לתוך המשרד, ואז פתח באש לעבר כמה עובדים.[2][3]

בעקבות הירי, שלחו משטרת ניו יורק ומשטרת לוס אנג'לס שוטרים חמושים למערכות העיתון המרכזיות בניו יורק ובלוס אנג'לס, כמשנה זהירות וכדי למנוע תרחישים דומים.[4][5] למרות הירי בחדר החדשות של ה"קפיטל גאזט", עובדי העיתון לא ויתרו והוציאו את העיתון המקומי לאור, ועל שערו תמונות הנרצחים.[6]

היורה

היורה הוא ג'ארוד ראמוס, תושב מרילנד בן 38 אשר תבע את העיתון ואת אחד מכתביו ב-2012, בגין לשון הרע בעקבות פרסום כי הטריד אישה ברשת. תביעתו נדחתה כעבור שנתיים, וערעורו על ההחלטה נדחה ב-2015.[7][8]

ראמוס נתפס כאשר מסתתר מתחת לאחד השולחנות במערכת והועבר למעצר,[7] אך סירב לשתף פעולה עם רשויות האכיפה ולא מסר את זהותו. הוא לא נשא עליו תעודה מזהה, ולפי דיווחים ראשונים במשטרה אף חיבל בקצות אצבעותיו כדי למנוע את זיהויו באמצעות טביעות אצבע.[9] מאוחר יותר הובהר שהייתה בעיה במכונת זיהוי טביעת האצבעות.[10] החשוד נשא עמו תיק גב ובו רימוני הלם ורימוני עשן.[11]

ב-28 בספטמבר 2021 הורשע ראמוס בביצוע הירי ונידון ל-6 מאסרי עולם בתוספת 345 שנות מאסר.[12]
