ארוחת האפטאר בבית הלבן היא קבלת פנים שנתית המתקיימת בבית הלבן על ידי נשיא ארצות הברית והגברת הראשונה לרגל חודש הרמדאן. בדומה לטקס חנוכה בבית הלבן, בארוחת האפטאר מתארחים פוליטיקאים מוסלמים ומנהיגי קהילות מוסלמיות.

תומאס ג'פרסון ערך את ארוחת הערב הראשונה בבית הלבן עם מוסלמי בזמן שאירח את סידי סולימאן מלימלי, שליחו של נציג הממשל האוטונומי בתוניסיה בחסות האימפריה העות'מאנית. הארוחה נערכה ב-9 בדצמבר 1805, במהלך המלחמה הברברית הראשונה[1]. ג'פרסון התאים את עיתוי הארוחה כך שתיערך אחרי השקיעה וזאת על מנת לשמור על מסורת הרמדאן עליה הקפיד מלימלי.

הנשיא הדמוקרטי ביל קלינטון המשיך במסורת שהתחיל ג'פרסון[2], גם הנשיא שלאחר קלינטון, ג'ורג' ווקר בוש, חגג את ארוחת האפטאר ב-2001, ומאז המשיך לקיים את הארוחה מדי שנה בכל שבע שנות כהונתו. גם הנשיא ברק אובמה ציין את הארוחה החל משנתו הראשונה בבית הלבן (2009), וציין אותה מדי שנה עד תום כהונתו[3].

בשנת 2017 שבר הנשיא דונלד טראמפ את מסורת הבית הלבן שהתקיימה כמעט 20 שנה בכך שבחר שלא לערוך ארוחת אפטאר.[4] עם זאת, הנשיא טראמפ כן ערך את הארוחה במהלך כהונתו וערך את ארוחת האפטאר הראשונה בתקופת כהונתו בבית הלבן ב-6 ביוני 2018.[5] גם ב-13 במאי 2019 נערכה ארוחה דומה[6].
