אור ראשון (אסטרונומיה)

באסטרונומיה, אור ראשון הוא השימוש הראשון בטלסקופ (או, באופן כללי, מכשיר חדש) כדי לצלם תמונה אסטרונומית לאחר בנייתו. לעיתים קרובות זו אינה הצפייה הראשונה באמצעות הטלסקופ; ככל הנראה בוצעו בדיקות אופטיות כדי להתאים את הרכיבים.

מאפיינים

תמונת אור הראשון היא בדרך כלל בעלת עניין מדעי מועט והיא באיכות ירודה, מכיוון שרכיבי הטלסקופ השונים טרם הותאמו ליעילות מיטבית. למרות זאת, אור ראשון הוא תמיד רגע של התרגשות גדולה, הן עבור האנשים שמתכננים ובונים את הטלסקופ והן עבור הקהילה האסטרונומית, שאולי המתינה לרגע במשך שנים רבות בזמן שהטלסקופ היה בבנייה.

טלסקופ הייל של מצפה הכוכבים פאלומאר ראה אור ראשון ב-26 בינואר 1949, כשהוא מכוון ל-NGC 2261[1] בניצוחו של האסטרונום האמריקני אדווין האבל.

התרוממות רוח בתמונות האור הראשון של טלסקופ החלל האבל בשנת 1990 פינתה את מקומה עד מהרה לאכזבה ראשונית כאשר פגם מנע התאמות לפעולה תקינה. איכות תמונת אור ראשונם הצפויה הושגה לבסוף לאחר משימת שירות משנת 1993 של מעבורת החלל אנדוור.

לטלסקופ הבינוקולארי הגדול היה אור ראשון עם מראה ראשונית אחת ב-12 באוקטובר 2005, שהייתה של NGC 891.[2][3]

ל-טלסקופ הקנרי הגדול הייתה תמונת אור ראשון של Tycho 1205081 ב-14 ביולי 2007.[4]

מצפה החלל הסולארי IRIS השיג אור ראשון ב-17 ביולי 2013.[5] החוקר הראשי ציין:

"איכות התמונות והספקטרום שאנו מקבלים מ-IRIS מדהימה. זה בדיוק מה שקיווינו לו..."[5]

ב-4 בפברואר 2022, האור הראשון שנצפה על ידי טלסקופ החלל ג'יימס ווב (JWST) היה מהכוכב HD 84406 לצורך בדיקה ויישור המוקד של 18 המראות של הטלסקופ.[6] ב-11 בפברואר 2022. הניו יורק טיימס דיווח כי פורסמו תמונות "אור ראשון" מטלסקופ החלל ג'יימס ווב.[7] ב-6 ביולי 2022, נאס"א פרסמה תמונת בדיקה מחיישן הנחיה העדינה של ה-JWST.[8] נאס"א פרסמה את תמונת ה-JWST הרשמית הראשונה ב-11 ביולי 2022.[9] מאוחר יותר, בטקס רשמי, האוסף הראשון של חמש תמונות מדעיות של JWST שוחרר ביום שלישי, 12 ביולי 2022.[10][11]
