Adu dan jam'iyyar NPP ne.[4][5][6] Ya kasance dan majalisa mai rinjaye a majalisar dokoki ta 6 a jamhuriya ta hudu 4 ta Ghana. Ya kasance Shugaban Majalisar Wakilan Ahafo Ano ta Kudu, Mankraso, daga watan Afrilu shekara ta , dubu biyu da tara 2009 zuwa Janairu shekarar alif dubu biyu da goma sha ukku 2011; da MP daga watan Janairu shekara ta, dubu biyu da goma sha ukku 2013 zuwa yau; zangonsa na biyu kenan.[3]

Ya tsaya takara a babban zaben Ghana na shekarar, dubu biyu da ashirin 2020 akan tikitin New Patriotic Party kuma ya lashe zaben wakilci a majalisar wakilai ta takwas 8 na Jamhuriyyar Ghana ta hudu. Ya samu nasara da kuri’u dubu goma sha biyar da dari bakwai da sittin da daya 15,761 wanda ya samu kashi hamsin da hudu da digo hamsin da daya 54.51% na jimillar kuri’u yayin da dan takarar majalisar dokokin kasar NDC Sadik Abubakar ya samu kuri’u dubu goma sha ukku da dari da hamsin da ukku 13,153 ya samu kashi arba'in da biyar da digo arba'in da tara 45.49% na kuri’u da dan takara mai zaman kansa Adom Douglas Kwakye ya samu kuri’u dubu goma sha daya da hamsin da biyu 11,052.[7][8]

A cikin shekarar, alif dubu biyu da ashirin da daya 2021, Adu tare da Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, Abdul-Aziz Ayaba Musah, Laadi Ayii Ayamba da Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah an rantsar da su yayin babban zama na shekarar, 2021 na Majalisar ECOWAS wanda ya faru a Freetown a Saliyo.[9]
