O Trofeo Antonio Puerta é un torneo anual que organiza o Sevilla FC desde 2008, dedicado á memoria do xogador Antonio Puerta, falecido o 28 de agosto de 2007, tres días despois de caer esborrallado no campo mentres disputaba o primeiro partido de Liga da tempada 2007–08 contra o Getafe CF.[1] Este trofeo dispútase antes do comezo da tempada, a finais de agosto, e substitúe ao tradicional partido de presentación que disputada o Sevilla FC no seu estadio antes de comezar a tempada.

Historia

A primeira edición celebrouse o día 23 de agosto de 2008, cinco días antes do aniversario do falecemento do xogador. Por iso realizáronse unha serie de actos antes do partido: entregóuselle a Aitor Puerta, fillo do xogador, o seu carné de socio e unha camiseta co seu nome; proxectáronse no videomarcador imaxes do xogador; e xusto antes do partido gardouse un minuto de silencio, durante o cal rezouse un Noso Pai, en recordo do propio xogador homenaxeado e das vítimas do Voo 5022 de Spanair, en accidente ocorrido no aeroporto de Barajas en Madrid o 20 de agosto de 2008 e que supuxo a maior traxedia da aviación comercial en España desde 1983,[2] un suceso que conmocionou a toda a sociedade española.

O club elixido para disputar a I edición do Trofeo Antonio Porta foi o Málaga CF, club andaluz contra o que Puerta debutou en Primeira División o 21 de marzo de 2004, e que na tempada 2008-2009 retorna a Primeira División tras dúas tempadas en Segunda División.

O trofeo da I Edición é obra do escultor Roberto Echevarría e o ourive Juan Borrero Campos, encargados do deseño e execución da mesma. É unha peza no medio relevo e en prata de lei que representa o equipamento nervionense coa anatomía de Antonio Puerta e o seu dorsal ás costas. As cores utilizadas son o vermello veludo para o fondo e a prata simbolizando o branco da camiseta sevillista.

O 11 de xuño de 2012 anunciouse que a quinta edición do torneo xogaríase o 8 de agosto entre o Sevilla FC e o Deportivo da Coruña.[3]
