O Tholos de Atenas era un edificio circular (tholos) situado na ágora. Foi construído no -465, despois da destrución por Xerxes I no -480, durante as Guerras médicas, dun monumento máis antigo que tiña a mesma función[1].

Era a sede dos Prítanes, os 50 concelleiros que presidían á súa vez a Bulé. Estes maxistrados exercían o poder executivo durante un mes[2], e segundo Aristóteles reuníanse alí para comer xuntos, a costa do Estado durante a duración do seu mandato. Este lugar tiña, polo tanto, a función de cociña e comedor, sendo tamén un lugar central das actividades económicas da polis. Conservábanse alí os patróns de medidas utilizados para controlar as transaccións comerciais[3].

Segundo Pausanias

Preto do Buleuterio atopábase o Tholos, onde os prítanes fan sacrificios, e hai algunhas imaxes, non grandes, feitas de prata.

Estaba formado por unha estancia de planta circular sostida por seis columnas centrais cunha porta que se abría ao lado oeste. O tellado era cónico e estaba cuberto en parte con tellas de terracota (algunhas están no museo da Acrópole) e en parte con tellas de bronce[1].
