Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, nado na reserva india de Rosebud o 28 de abril de 1976, é un actor da tribo síux dos lakota, tamén coñecido polo nomes Nathan Chasing Horse e Nathan Chases His Horse. É fillo do xefe Joseph Chasing Horse e de Winifred Chasing Horse. Pasou gran parte da súa vida adulta en California, e vive en Las Vegas, Nevada. En xaneiro de 2023, foi detido por cargos relacionados con múltiples delitos sexuais contra mozas indíxenas.[1]

Traxectoria

Chasing His Horse actuou no papel de Sorrí Moito (en lingua lakota: Iȟá s’a) na película de Kevin Costner Dances with Wolves.[2] Posteriormente actuou en tres filmes para televisión con Eric Schweig: The Broken Chain, Into the West e Enterrádeme o corazón en Wounded Knee. Deu conferencias e obradoiros sobre espiritualidade e desenvolveu seguidores en diversos lugares.[2]

É o pai da modelo Quannah Chasinghorse.[3]

Chasing Horse conseguiu unha reputación entre tribos indíxenas dos Estados Unidos e do Canadá como curandeiro. Asegurou que realizaba cerimonias de curación e, segundo a policía, usou a súa posición para abusar de mozas nativas americanas.[4]

Cuestións legais

O 6 de xullo de 2015, despois de tentar realizar unha cerimonia de Danza do Sol na zona, Chasing His Horse foi expulsado da reserva india de Fort Peck en Montana como unha "ameaza á seguridade" por mor de cargos de "tráfico humano, abuso sexual, tráfico de drogas e intimidación de membros da tribo".[1][2]

Chasing Horse foi detido o 31 de xaneiro de 2023 por axentes do Departamento de Policía de North Las Vegas e do Departamento de Policía Metropolitana de Las Vegas. Os axentes realizaron unha redada do equipo SWAT na casa que compartía coas súas cinco esposas, situada no norte de Las Vegas.[5] A súa detención foi a culminación dunha investigación de meses de duración que comezou despois de que a policía recibise un aviso en outubro de 2022. Segundo unha orde de busca de 50 páxinas obtida por AP, crese que Chasing Horse é o líder dun culto coñecido como The Circle.[6] A policía informa que se incautaron de armas de fogo e que Chasing Horse instruía aos seus seguidores que as "disparasen" contra as forzas da orde e que, se non, tomasen "pílulas suicidas".[7]

A policía de Las Vegas, segundo consta na orde de busca, atopou probas de polo menos seis denuncias de abusos sexuais, e unha vítima denunciou ser agredida aos 13 anos.[8] As acusacións contra Chasing Horse abranguen varios estados, incluíndo Montana, Dacota do Sur e Nevada, onde viviu durante os últimos 10 anos, e remóntanse a principios dos anos 2000.[6]
