O escritor modernista Rubén Darío

O Modernismo é un movemento artístico e literario iniciado en Hispanoamérica grazas a autores como o cubano José Martí, o mexicano Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera e, sobre todo, o nicaraguano Rubén Darío. O Modernismo iníciase coa publicación de Azul... en 1888 por Rubén Darío e remata co estoupido da primeira guerra mundial en 1914.

Literatura modernista en España

O movemento comeza en España grazas a Rubén Darío, cando este se instala no país e publica Prosas Profanas no 1896, e ten o seu auxe entre os anos 1896 e 1914. As circunstancias da súa aparición foron:

  1. o esgotamento dos temas e formas do Realismo e do Naturalismo, o que xerou un desexo xeral de innovar e de romper con la literatura precedente.
  2. un ambiente de crise social, política e económica, agudizada en España pola perda das últimas colonias españolas en América, coñecido como desastre do 1898, que doe aos intelectuais españois non tanto pola perda en si como pola convicción de que España nunca volverá a ser unha potencia importante.
  3. o reinado de Afonso XIII, quen se propón ampliar as súas posesións no norte de África, o que ten como consecuencia unha guerra, coas súas perdidas económicas e humanas, que provocan malestar social, o que leva a unha revolución e á semana tráxica de Barcelona.

Os autores españois que se poden encadrar neste movemento son: Salvador Rueda, Francisco Villaespesa, Eduardo Marquina, Manuel Machado, o primeiro Juan Ramón Jiménez, o primeiro Antonio Machado ou o primeiro Valle Inclán

Características

  • É o produto refinado de distintas influencias: do Romanticismo, do Parnasianismo (caracterizado polo emprego dun léxico exquisito e refinado, pola grande importancia do exótico, a cor e a luz, e cuxo máximo representante foi Théophile Gautier) e do Simbolismo Francés (que se caracteriza polo emprego de numerosos simbolismos, de aí o seu nome; concede grande importancia á musicalidade, que consegue con aliteracións, paralelismos, alusión a palabras pertencentes ao campo da música...; dálle unha grande importancia ao intimismo; os seus máximos representantes foron Verlaine e Mallarmé).
  • En canto ao léxico, gusta das palabras exóticas, cultas , mitolóxicas ou extravagantes (mesmo de arcaísmos), así coma unha grande riqueza de vocabulario e abundante adxectivación.
  • En canto aos recursos literarios, destacan a presenza de abundantes aliteracións, reiteracións, antíteses, paralelismos e sinestesias.
  • En canto á métrica, destaca: a recuperación de versos como o dodecasílabo, o alexandrino ou o hendecasílabo; o emprego do verso libre; a variación e incluso invención de estrofas, aínda que a máis empregada era o soneto ou o uso da rima interna. Como consecuencia, as composicións estaban dotadas dunha grande musicalidade e ritmo.
  • Os temas máis empregados son maiormente aqueles nos que abunda a fantasía e a imaxinación, polo que os autores modernistas evádense da realidade mediante a referencia ao exótico, ao oriental, ao aristocrático, ao mítico...,aínda que ás veces miran ao seu mundo interior, á intimidade...e só encontran angustia, pesimismo, tristeza...
