Io capitano é un filme italiano de 2023 dirixido por Matteo Garrone a partir dun guión escrito por Garrone con Massimo Gaudioso, Massimo Ceccherini e Andrea Tagliaferri.[2] O filme, unha coprodución internacional entre Italia, Bélxica e Francia, baséase nunha idea orixinal de Garrone, inspirada en historias reais das rutas africanas dos migrantes a Europa. A rodaxe tivo lugar no Senegal, Marrocos e Italia.

Io capitano competiu polo León de Ouro na 80ª edición do Festival Internacional de Cinema de Venecia, onde gañou o León de Prata pola dirección de Matteo Garrone e o premio Marcello Mastroianni pola interpretación de Seydou Sarr.[3] Foi escollido como candidato de Italia para o Óscar ó mellor filme internacional na 96ª edición dos premios,[4] sendo nomeado xunto a outros catro filmes.
