Fatana Ishaq Gailani, nada en 1954, é unha activista afgá en favor dos dereitos humanos, especialmente dos dereitos das mulleres.[1]

Traxectoria

Gailani residiu nun campo de refuxiados de Paquistán desde 1978, primeiro pola súa oposición ao goberno comunista e posteriormente ao talibán. En 1993 creou o Consello de Mulleres Afgás,[2][3] polo que recibiu diversas ameazas de morte por parte do réxime talibán. O consello ten como obxectivo principal proporcionar medios educativos e sanitarios aos nenos, nenas e mulleres afgás nos campos de refuxiados, informando as mulleres sobre os seus dereitos no marco das tradicións culturais e relixiosas do seu país.

En 1998 foi galardoada co Premio Princesa de Asturias de Cooperación Internacional xunto con Fatiha Boudiaf, Rigoberta Menchú, Somaly Mam, Emma Bonino, Graça Machel e Olayinka Koso-Thomas polo "seu traballo en defensa e pola dignidade da muller".[4]
