Os cerros Orientais son un conxunto orográfico situado ao leste de Bogotá, o cal serve como fronteira natural da cidade. A grandes liñas segue unha dirección sur-norte. Atópase principalmente nas zonas rurais nas localidades de Sumapaz, Usme, San Cristóbal, Santa Fe, Chapinero e Usaquén. Malia ser unha zona protexida, moitos dos seus ecosistemas atópanse ameazados pola construción ilegal de vivendas no medio da reserva forestal, tarefa que esta buscando evitar a administración distrital con múltiples operativos na zona con apoio das autoridades policiais e xudiciais.

Características

Os cerros orientais de Bogotá son unha serie de montes visibles dende a maior parte da cidade. Contan con preto de 14.000 ha. Limita ao norte con Torca e ao sur co de Chipaque. No seu costado leste, as elevacións aumentan até constituír o páramo de Cruz Verde, que xunto ao de Sumapaz conforma o mesmo sistema.[1]

De sur a norte, os cerros son La Teta, Aguanoso, Guadalupe, Monserrate, Pico del Águila, El Cable, e ao norte da cidade, na localidade de Usaquén, as serras do Chicó, El Chiscal, o alto La Laguna, e o cerro Pan de Azúcar.[2] O conxunto presenta un forte gradiente altitudinal, que vai dos 2.570 aos 3670 metros sobre o nivel do mar.[3]
