Benzoquinona

Unha benzoquinona (C6H4O2) é unha quinona cun só anel bencénico. Hai 2 benzoquinonas (hipoteticamente podería haber unha terceira), que son:

  • 1,4-Benzoquinona, que é a máis común, mostrada na imaxe da dereita (tamén chamada para-benzoquinona, p-benzoquinona, para-quinona, ou, ás veces, simplemente, quinona)
  • 1,2-Benzoquinona, menos común, mostrada na imaxe da esquerda (tamén chamada orto-benzoquinona, o-benzoquinona, orto-quinona)

  • 1,3-benzoquinona, que é hipotética e realmente "non existe, porque a súa estrutura non sería plana e estaría moi tensionada",[1] aínda que si se coñecen derivados seus, máis estables.

Atopouse unha p-benzoquinona alquilada no rizoma de Iris kemaonensis.[2]
