A Asociación de Escritores de Galicia foi unha asociación constituída en 1936 que representaba aos escritores galegos e que apenas tivo actividade.

Historia e características

Tras diversos chamamentos de Antón Vilar Ponte aparecidos na prensa, e logo da súa morte en febreiro de 1936 a iniciativa de Álvaro das Casas[1] constituíuse o 29 de marzo de 1936 en Santiago de Compostela, elixíndose unha xunta directiva con Gonzalo López Abente de presidente e Álvaro das Casas de secretario xeral e establecendo a sede provisional nos locais da Editorial Nós, en total á AEG pertencían 72 escritores.[2] A Guerra Civil española coutou as actividades que tiña en proxecto, e na práctica tan só puido organizar unha das conferencias dun ciclo previsto en Radio Vigo, concretamente a de Eugenio López Aydillo o 16 de xullo de 1936. A AEG foi o primeiro intento de crear un organismo que representase os intereses dos escritores galegos, aínda que houbo un precedente, a Asociación de Escritores Gallegos constituída en xullo de 1930 por iniciativa de Álvaro das Casas en Ourense pero que esmoreceu sen chegar a realizar actividade ningunha.[3]
