Évelyne Dandry est une actrice française. Très présente au théâtre et à la télévision à partir des années 1960, elle est notamment connue pour son rôle dans Sitcom (1998) de François Ozon.

Jeunesse et études

De son vrai nom Évelyne Deyhérassary, elle est la fille du chanteur André Dassary (1912-1987) et de la pianiste Marie-Madeleine Bergès, qu'elle accompagne avec son frère et ses deux sœurs lors de galas.

Elle commence à monter sur scène à l'âge de quinze ans. D'abord élève à Boulogne-Billancourt, elle arrête l'école pour se consacrer au piano, et prendre des cours d'art dramatique. Quelques mois après cette période de formation, un metteur en scène[Qui ?] retient sa candidature, lançant ainsi sa carrière professionnelle.

Carrière

La carrière d'Évelyne Dandry est faite de rencontres, comme celle, à 24 ans, de l'acteur Pierre Mondy qui lui dit  : « Dans ce métier il faut vingt pour cent de talent et quatre-vingts de chance ! »[réf. nécessaire]

Elle fait ses débuts au théâtre et au cinéma à la fin des années 1950. En 1958, elle joue Vu du pont d'Arthur Miller sous la direction de Peter Brook, puis en 1961 Le Voyage de Georges Schéhadé, mise en scène Jean-Louis Barrault.

Les réalisateurs de la Nouvelle Vague faisant moins appel aux acteurs de théâtre, elle ne tourne presque pas au cinéma dans les années 1960, hormis D'où viens-tu Johnny ? de Noël Howard, où elle interprète le rôle de la fiancée de Johnny Hallyday. En revanche, elle joue énormément pour la télévision sous la direction des grands réalisateurs de l'époque tels Marcel Bluwal, Stellio Lorenzi ou Serge Moati et apparaît à plusieurs reprises dans Au théâtre ce soir.

Dans les années 1970, elle collabore avec l'actrice et dramaturge Josiane Lévêque dont elle met en scène deux pièces de café-théâtre (La golden est souvent farineuse et Zizanie bretelle) et joue dans trois autres (Au niveau du chou, Les orties, ça s'arrache mieux quand c'est mouillé et Orties... chaud).

Il faut attendre les années 1990 et une nouvelle génération de réalisateurs pour qu'elle se voit à nouveau confier des rôles. François Ozon la choisit pour incarner une mère atypique dans Sitcom en 1998, puis Potiche en 2010. Elle tourne également deux fois avec Valérie Lemercier, dans 100% cachemire en 2013 et Marie-Francine en 2017.
