Les contributeurs utilisant un nom d'utilisateur connu peuvent soulever des questions sur leur identité réelle et leur légitimité à utiliser un tel nom.

Problématique

Il est parfois nécessaire que l'identité du détenteur du compte soit vérifiée pour s'assurer de sa légitimité à intervenir sur Wikipédia sous un tel nom et éviter une éventuelle usurpation d'identité. Alternativement, il peut changer de nom d'utilisateur.

Attention
Si aucune action n'est entreprise malgré l'avertissement, un blocage conservatoire peut éventuellement être prononcé par un administrateur pour forcer le compte à se mettre en règle.

Si un contributeur utilise un nom d'utilisateur connu, le modèle {{subst:Nom d'utilisateur connu}} apposé sur sa page de discussion permet de lui indiquer les démarches possibles. Ce message catégorise les comptes qui n'ont pas encore suivi cette démarche dans Catégorie:Compte dont l'identité est à vérifier.

Procédures de résolution

Vérification de la légitimité

Lorsque un contributeur utilise un compte nommé au nom d'une personnalité ou d'une entreprise, il peut lui être demandé par tout contributeur de prouver qu'il a la légitimité d'utiliser un tel nom ou de changer de nom d'utilisateur.

Pour être marqué comme vérifié par les agents de l'Équipe bénévole de réponse aux courriels (EBRC), il suffit de contacter info-fr@wikimedia.org en effectuant les démarches suivantes :

  • pour les personnalités : envoyer un courriel depuis une adresse officielle pour autant qu'il puisse être prouvé que cette adresse appartient indéniablement à la personnalité concernée (dans le cas contraire, une vérification n'est pas possible) ;
  • pour les entreprises : envoyer un courriel depuis une adresse officielle de l'entreprise avec une preuve que vous êtes habilité à la représenter sur Wikipédia.

Le modèle {{Identité vérifiée}} sera ajouté par l'agent EBRC sur la page utilisateur du compte en question, une fois que la démarche sera validée.

Posséder un compte « vérifié » ne donne aucun droit éditorial supplémentaire et ce compte doit éviter d'intervenir en conflit d'intérêt, surtout lors de guerre d'édition. Les interventions sur les articles concernant la personne ou l'entreprise sont fortement déconseillées sur Wikipédia pour des raisons évidentes de conflit d'intérêt et qu'il est préférable que le compte utilise les pages de discussions des articles pour demander à la communauté d'effectuer des modifications non triviales sur les articles.

Changement de nom d'utilisateur

Alternativement, il est possible de demander le renommage du compte utilisateur pour éviter toute confusion (faire une demande).
