Tropico est un jeu vidéo de gestion sorti en 2001 sur les systèmes Windows, Mac OS. Le jeu a été développé par PopTop Software et fut édité par Gathering of Developers.

Présentation

Le joueur incarne un dictateur/président (« El Presidente ») qui doit gérér une île (imaginaire) des Caraïbes, Tropico, en pleine Guerre Froide. Il se retrouve alors confronté à de nombreux problèmes (politiques, économiques, sociologiques, écologiques).

Politique

Dans Tropico vous pouvez recevoir des aides provenant des deux blocs : soviétique et américain. Pour se rapprocher du bloc américain et avoir plus d'aides financières il faut développer les hôtels et les banques off-shore, et si on veut l'aide de l'URSS il faut développer l'industrie et vendre davantage de production. Une fois qu'on a un niveau de relation assez élevé avec l'un des deux blocs, on peut demander la construction d'une base militaire pour se protéger de l'autre bloc. Ces blocs peuvent, en plus de fournir une aide financière, vous offrir un soutien scientifique qui augmentera votre rentabilité dans certains domaines.

Tropico: Paradise Island

Tropico: Paradise Island est l'extension du jeu. Elle est sortie en 2002 et intègre de nouveaux scénarios, de nouvelles constructions et de nouvelles lois. Il développe également le tourisme et la dimension militaire.
