Julia Armfield, née le à Londres, est une autrice britannique. Elle est connue pour ses romans Nos femmes sous la mer (en) (2025) et Cérémonie d'orage (2026).

Biographie

Jeunesse et études

Julia Armfield naît à Londres le et grandit à Cobham (Surrey)[1],[2]. Elle fait ses études à la Lady Eleanor Holles School (en)[3]. Sa mère est régisseuse tandis que son père travaille à Londres. Son frère est acteur à la Royal Shakespeare Company[2].

Julia Armfield obtient un master en art et littérature de l'époque victorienne de la Royal Holloway (université de Londres)[1],[4]. Sa thèse porte sur « les dents, les cheveux et les ongles dans l'imaginaire victorien »[2],[4]. Elle cite H. P. Lovecraft, Shirley Jackson et Stephen King comme influences[5].
