Hippocoon est un personnage de la mythologie grecque, present dans le chant X de l'Iliade.

Hippocoon est le cousin paternel du demi-dieu Rhesos, le jeune seigneur de Thrace, allié de Priam pendant la guerre de Troie. Son rôle est celui de conseiller du roi : il suit donc Rhesos dans la guerre. Selon le texte homérique, les deux jeunes gens sont liés par une profonde affection.

Rhesos est tué dans son sommeil avec douze de ses guerriers par Diomède, qui est entré dans sa tente avec Ulysse pour voler les chevaux du roi. Craignant d'être découvert, le héros achéen s'enfuit et cela permet à Hippocoon d'éviter la mort. Hippocoon est le premier parmi les guerriers survivants à se réveiller et à découvrir le massacre. Désespéré, il pleure le meurtre de son cousin. Sans aucun doute il est l'un des personnages les plus sensibles du poème.
