Le festin d'Hérode est un épisode des évangiles suivant la décollation de Jean-Baptiste, lorsque Salomé présente sa tête à ses parents. Le récit dans l’Évangile selon Marc décrit Hérode tenant un banquet pour ses hauts fonctionnaires et ses commandants militaires, ainsi que des hommes de haut rang de Galilée. Lors de ce banquet, la fille d'Hérode danse devant lui. Il en est heureux et lui offre tout ce qu'elle demande en retour. La jeune fille demande à sa mère ce qu’elle devrait demander et elle lui dit de demander la tête de Jean-Baptiste. À contrecœur, Hérode ordonne la décapitation de Jean et sa tête est livrée à Salomé, à sa demande, « sur un plat » (Mc 6,17–29).
