Asher White est une musicienne multi-instrumentiste, productrice, artiste visuelle et écrivaine américaine née en 2000.

Biographie

Asher White naît en 2000, à Evanston, dans l'Illinois, aux États-Unis. Elle étudie la sculpture à la Rhode Island School of Design[1],[2].

Elle devient musicienne multi-instrumentiste, productrice, artiste visuel et écrivaine[1],[3]. Elle commence à publier des albums sur Bandcamp à l'âge de 14 ans.

Asher White est une artiste queer et femme transgenre et explicite la façon dont cela a influencé sa musique[4],[5],[6],[7]. Son album de 2023 s'intitule d'ailleurs New Excellent Woman[8]. En 2024, elle s'entretient avec MIZU sur le podcast Talkhouse à l'occasion de la sortie par Red Hot de l'album compilation <i>TRA​И​Ƨ​A</i>, sur lequel elle figure[9]. Elle sort son quinzième album, Home Constellation Study, en 2024. Andy Cush de Pitchfork décrit l'album comme extraordinaire par son éclectisme[10].

En , White signe avec le label Joyful Noise[11]. À l'occasion de cette annonce, elle sort « Kratom Headache Girls Night », un single extrait de son prochain album[12],[13]. En , elle se produit au festival de musique organisé par le Gender Liberation Movement à Washington DC, le Liberation Weekend, avec Ekko Astral, Speedy Ortiz et d'autres artistes [14]. En , White sort son seizième album, 8 Tips for Full Catastrophe Living, via Joyful Noise[15],[16].
