Ash & Ice est le 5e album du groupe de rock anglo-américain The Kills, sorti le .

Il a été enregistré avec un studio mobile dans une maison louée à Los Angeles puis dans les studios Electric Lady à New York, co-produit par Jamie Hince et John O'Mahony (qui a travaillé avec les groupes Metric et The Cribs) et mixé par Tom Elmhirst et Tchad Blake[6].

Depuis le précédent album, Blood Pressures, sorti cinq ans plus tôt, Jamie Hince, victime d'un accident, a dû subir plusieurs interventions chirurgicales à la main et réapprendre à jouer de la guitare avec un doigt endommagé[6].

Le groupe s'est servi de samples sur plusieurs chansons.

Singles et clips

Trois titres, extraits en singles, ont précédé l'album : Doing It to Death, sorti le , avec un clip tourné à Los Angeles par Wendy Morgan[6], Heart of a Dog, paru le et accompagné d'une vidéo réalisée par Sophie Muller[7], et Siberian Nights dévoilé le avec un clip réalisé par l'acteur Giovanni Ribisi[8]. Après la sortie de l'album, Impossible Tracks est choisi comme quatrième extrait le , illustré par une vidéo filmée par Ellis Bahl au Luna Park de Melbourne en Australie[9]. Enfin, le est dévoilée une vidéo immersive réalisée par Sophie Muller pour le titre Whirling Eye[10].
