Alexandre Jean Pierre Clausel, pionnier de la photographie à Troyes, pratiquant les daguerréotypes, est également peintre et professeur de dessin.
Alexandre Clausel est le beau-père du critique littéraire Adolphe Paupe, spécialiste de Stendhal.
