Veikko Vainio (johtaja)

Simo Veikko Vainio (1. huhtikuuta 1915 Käkisalmi – 23. elokuuta 2007 Helsinki) oli vuorineuvos, Metsäliiton pääjohtaja ja Raision Tehtaat Oy:n pääjohtaja.[1]

Vainion vanhemmat olivat maanmittausinsinööri Simo Armas Vainio ja Olga Gertrud Grönlund. Hän suoritti ylemmän oikeustutkinnon 1938, mutta valmistui työn ohessa opiskellen myös kauppatieteiden maisteriksi 1955, KHT-tilintarkastaja hänestä tuli 1958. Vuodesta 1944 Vainio toimi Outokumpu Oy:n metallitehtaan huoltopäällikkönä, Suomen Maanviljelijäin Kauppa Oy:n hallinnollisen osaston päällikkö hänestä tuli 1947, Metsäliitto Osuuskunnan hallinnollinen johtaja 1955 ja osuuskunnan johtokunnan jäsen pari vuotta myöhemmin. Vainion johdolla kerättiin pääomia alueellisiin metsäteollisuusyksiköihin ja kehitettiin muutenkin liiketoimintaa rakenteellisesti. Osuuskunnan varatoimitusjohtajaksi Vainio kohosi 1965, mutta jo seuraavana vuonna hänet kutsuttiin Raision pääjohtajaksi Veikko Reinikaisen otteiden aiheuttaman kriisin jälkeen. Vainio teki Raisiossa useita yritysjärjestelyjä, hänen aikanaan ryhdyttiin uusiin liiketoimintoihin ja lanseerattiin uusia tuotteita. Raision reaalinen liikevaihto kasvoi kahdeksassa vuodessa 65 %. Vuorineuvoksen arvon Vainio sai 1970. Vuonna 1972 eli 57-vuotiaana hän siirtyi takaisin Metsäliittoon, nyt pääjohtajaksi. Vainio onnistui tehtävässään niin, että kun hän luovutti pääjohtajuutensa 1980 Mikko Wuotille, yhtymä oli merkittävimpiä suomalaisia puunjalostajia. Vainio osallistui aktiivisesti yhdistys- ja järjestötoimintaan ja tuli tunnetuksi lauluharrastuksestaan.[1]

Vainion puoliso vuodesta 1939 oli varanotaari Aune Helka Seitola. Liike-elämän vaikuttaja, ministeri Vesa Vainio on heidän poikansa.[1]
