Uutiskriteerit

Uutiskriteerit ratkaisevat sen uutisoidaanko juttu vai ei. Mitä useampi uutiskriteeri täyttyy sitä varmempaa julkaiseminen on.

Alkuperäiset uutiskriteerit kehittivät Johan Galtung ja Mari Holmboe Ruge 1965.[1] Kriteereitä on kaikkiaan 15 kappaletta. Tässä kriteerit hieman yksinkertaistettuna:

  1. negatiivisuus
  2. raadollisuus
  3. toistuvuus
  4. voimakkuus
  5. yksiselitteisyys
  6. kulttuurinen merkittävyys
  7. koskettavuus
  8. odotettavuus
  9. yllätyksellisyys
  10. jatkuvuus
  11. päivän valikoima
  12. eliittihenkilöt
  13. henkilöitävyys
  14. positiivisuus
  15. tärkeys

Professori Yrjö Ahmavaaran luomien uutiskriteerien pohjalta on muokattu Yleisradion ohjelmatoiminnan säännöstöön uutiskriteerit.[2] Niiden mukaan uutisarvo määräytyy seuraavien kriteerien mukaan:

  • Tapahtuman vaikutusten tosiasiallinen voimakkuus (intensiteetti).
  • Tapahtuman vaikutusten laajuus ts. sen ihmisjoukon suuruus, jota vaikutukset koskettavat.
  • Se, missä määrin tapahtuman vaikutukset koskettavat uutisen kuulijoita ja katsojia itseään tai niitä ryhmiä, joihin he kuuluvat. (Yleisradion ohjelmatoiminnan säännöstö 1972, 4.)
