Tropic of Ice – Jään kääntöpiiri on Lauri Törhösen ohjaama jännityselokuva vuodelta 1987. Elokuvan tuottaja on Kaj Holmberg ja tuotantoyhtiö Skandia-Filmi Oy. Törhönen on tehnyt elokuvan käsikirjoituksen Juha Vakkurin samannimisen romaanin pohjalta.

Juoni

Helsinkiläinen liikemies välittää vientikiellossa olevaa länsimaista huipputeknologiaa Neuvostoliittoon. Bisnekset sujuvat hyvin, kunnes häntä aletaan epäillä ja tilanteesta tuleekin valtapolitiikkaa. Samalla ihmissuhteet alkavat kärsiä ja mies turvautuu alkoholiin.[1]

Helsingin Sanomien Helena Ylänen kirjoitti, ettei Vakkurin ja Törhösen kertoma tapahtumasarja ole kovin vakuuttava, mutta elokuvan ilmapiiri ja monet henkilöhahmot ovat. Hän kehui myös monien tuoreiden kasvojen onnistuneita roolisuorituksia. ”Aika ajoin tätä kautta filmiin syntyy jännitystä, tyylikkäitten vakoilutarinoiden ounastelevaa väreilyä.” Yläsen mielestä tarinaa pikemminkin hidastavat kuin syventävät monet turhat filosofoinnit kaupankäynnistä ja menestyksestä.[1]
